This piece is based on a circa 1930s Farmer Jacket. The original Farmer Jacket evolved from a vest with sleeves added later, which resulted in a very high armhole placement, often causing discomfort and restricted movement when worn. 

For this iteration, the armhole placement has been lowered and the overall pattern has been reworked to better suit modern wear, while still preserving the character and proportions of the original garment.
